Blog Entry: Winch launchings up to record altitudes in Fürstenfeldbruck
On Saturday, October 28, some Bavarian and Austrian
aerobatic pilots had the chance to test a very new
way to reach the neccesary altitude of 1200 m. Almost
two-seater aerobatic gliders became launched with a
specially featured winch up to altitudes of 1590 m
over ground. The pilots became enthusiast, all could
start the full aerobatic programm after the 29 launches
in 90 seconds to heaven.
It became true because of the engagement of Tost Startwinden
GmbH, bringing the specially equipment to modify a
420 hp demonstration winch. Karl Höck from winch company
brought the calculations of the process and the design
of the very high stressed cable drum. The Dyneema rope
with a length of 3000 m and a diameter 4.5 mm was developed
and spend by Rosenberger.
The Bundeswehr Sportflieger Gemeinschaft e. V. and
the Akademische Fluggruppe München organized works
and the security. An ASK 21 could at last glide from
the winch to 25 km far airfield in Oberschleißheim.
All members had been convinced that this kind of start
is the future in aerobatic education and training.
Because of the low cost and the very ecological manner
and practically no noise on airfield and in the nearness
of it. This is important by high area launches.
Reached altitudes with wind of 10 -20 km/h in front:
ASK 21, ASK 13 two pilots 1590 m
Fox two pilots 1400 m
Mü 28 one pilot 1200 m
