Where were you 9/11? How did it affect you?

I was sitting in 1st Hour study hall during my Junior year of High School. Our teacher knew about it during most of the study hall, but failed to tell us until 45 minutes later. At that time we turned on the TV's, but I only had about 5 minutes to watch since I had a quick meeting to go to. Physics class was next. We watched that for about 10 minutes and finally got a good idea of what had actually happened. Our teacher wanted to turn it off, but we finally got her to leave the TV on, but with the sound off. About halfway through class we watch the towers fall. What really bothered me was the fact that our teachers wouldn't let us watch any of it the rest of the day. This sent rumors swirling around the school. "A bomb exploded in the Pentagon, White House, Congress, etc." "We're going to war, they're enciting the draft." "There are more hijacked aircraft in the air." It was driving everybody nuts. It wasn't until I got home in front of the TV that I finally found out about the Pentagon and Flight 93. After watching the news for several hours, I needed something to get my mind of it, and this is something I will always remember. I took my remote control plane out to the local park and flew it around. About half way through a grandpa and his grandaughter came by to play on the swings. For a moment, it was like nothing had happened. After a day of mass confusion it was nice to see that.

I was in Tampa, FL at a Home Depot Road Show. It is where the vendors come and conduct product knowledge classes for the HD employees. I worked for Vermont American Tool then and was talking about our 2-blade combo kit when we were interrupted. Saw blades didn't seem to matter anymore.....

God What a day that was. Woke up and turned on the TV,GMTV morning show. It was just so surreal to see this aircraft plough into the first tower. Then to see another aircraft plough into the other tower. Through out the morning, listerning to the radio it became clear how bad it was. rgds Airfixpilot (David)

In flight, on my way to Toronto! Never found out untill i got on ground at YYZ when the Ramper there told me. We were already decending for Toronto when it happened and really it hadn't effected us. I doubt it would have anyway with our routing.

Thoughts are still with the families who lost people on that day.
