I was just wondering if anybody has used the Kings schools private pilot ground school cd course? I was told by my local airport that its a great way to do a ground school at home since money has been tight and it would save me alot and does anybody know that I could get the same amount of information out of this program verse going to an airport and learning in one of thier ground school programs?
Thanks for the help

I've sat through the private pilot King video's. They're pretty good but annoying after hours and hours. Then again, so is your ground instructor. The Kings have been doing this forever so they're product is worth the money.
IMO It depends on money and your attention span. Me, I have none so when I was learning I read and tested everything on flightsim. Stoping and starting as I needed to. That's how I learned to fly instruments too. Nice and inexpensive. If you can sit still in a classroom for hours on end having the back and forth of the flight school is pretty nice. That's if the instructor knows what he/she is talking about. But reading the free book and then doing a fake cross country on flightsim was cheap and easy... just my .02 of course :)

I haven't seen the video from the King Brothers...hehehehe... but have used the Sporty's ones and they are OK. The Private Pilot course is a bit newer and is helpful. The IFR course is a bit dated and the Wx DVD will certainly make you sleepy. I heard they updated it though.

I used the King Private pilot course and I thought it was pretty good. I actually just sold all my cd's and stuff to a kid in my flight club.

King schools products rock!!! They always update their material so that it's current. They can get to be cheesey sometimes, but they break everything down barney style so its easy to learn. I highly recomend them.

I used the King private pilot ground course and now I am working on my instrument rating and I have the cd course for that too. After a while it does get a little old sitting there listening to the course but you can take a break for a little bit and then go back to it when you are ready again. I definitly recommend the cd course because it is cheaper than going to the flight school and paying an instructor to tell you the same stuff that is on the cds. It is also a time saver because you can do it on your time rather than trying to get a time that would be good for you and your instructor to get together other than when you are trying to build your flight time.
