Aviation Background
|
|
Like most of us pilots, professional or else, got bitten by the flying bug at an fairly early age.
My first ride was in a Douglas DC-3 (Ex-dakota)and the arlines name was "TACA", then in a Republic "Sea Bee" and then in a Sikorsky S-58 nine banger, oil and smoke al over.An that made it.
Aviation was to be mine bread and water for the rest of my life.
Went to Burnside Ott Aviation Training Center in Oppa-Locka, Florida. Fixed wing rating and helicopter (Rotorcraft) rating. Flew DC-9 10 for some time but that was not my stuff, so I decided to take up choppers for good. Oh yeah, before I forget, at the very beggining I used to take shotgun rides with my pal Alex in a Curtiss Commando carriying the newspapers to the Island of Margarita.
So it all started spraying crops of tomatoes and tobaco fields in a Hiller (brand new) UH-12 E, than cattle hearding and this went on for some time but it was too smelly to take for too long. Those chemicals are pestilent and they get into your skin so you smell for days no matter how hot is the water you shower with.
To make a long story short, I did everything a helicopter can do, making movies, commercials, police and SWAT team, SAR,utilities, power line patrol and construction, evacuations, disaster reliefe, sling load, tourist and air tour operations, mountain rescue, expeditions, firefighting, counterisurgency, you name it you have it.
Traveld extensivly and worked in many forign countries. Some I can name, some I can not, you know, this stupid oath of secrecy stuff.
I was born in Germany, my parents are hungarian, I went to school in Buffalo, NY, Salzburg, Austria and Cracas Venezuela. I am fluent in German, English, Spanish, Hungarian and Italian and then, if you really insist and if my life should depend on it, I can manage to spit some French, too.
