Dream Place to Land
DATE: 21 Dec 2006, 4:09 pm / MOOD: Full of life
If there was any one place I would like to fly, this would be it:
This is Male Airport, found in the Maldive Islands west of Sri Lanka. It looks like a beautiful place to fly into and staying at a resort here would be awesome!

Well, the weather didn't cooperate yesterday, so we'll try again tomorrow. Saturday night should be a good day for launch, but we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Weather concerns for launch
DATE: 07 Dec 2006, 5:02 pm / MOOD: Disapointed
Overcast skies with 18 kt. winds as a cold front passes over us. Doesn't look good for launch tonight. They say that the Trans-Atlantic Landing (TAL) sites in Europe are socked in too. Is the true, S.F?

Joke sent to me-- probably an old one
DATE: 07 Dec 2006, 9:35 am / MOOD: Happy
My uncle sent me this one and it's for the ladies: The Flight Crew The airliner pushed back from the gate, the flight attendant gave the passengers the usual information regarding seat belts, etc . Finally, she said, "Now sit back and enjoy your trip while your captain, Judith Campbell, and crew take you safely to your destination." Ed sitting in the eighth row thought to himself, "Did I hear her right? Is the captain a woman?" When the attendants came by with the drink cart, he said "Did I understand you right? Is the captain a woman?" "Yes," said the attendant, "In fact, this entire crew is female." "My God," said Ed, "I'd better have two scotch and sodas. I don't know what to think with only women up there in the cockpit." "That's another thing sir," said the attendant, "We No Longer Call It The Cock Pit."
"It's The Box Office."

Main Pic Info
DATE: 05 Dec 2006, 7:39 pm / MOOD: Other
This photo used for my main pic was taken while I was on landing contingency for the space shuttle at Edwards Air Force Base in California back in the fall of 2006. That is a life-size bronze statue of Chuck Yeager at one of the intersections on base. Weird place for it, since it isn't a park or fancy memorial-- its just this statue and a marble block commemorating the day he broke the speed of sound.

Don't want to repeat myself-- that's a lot of typing! Go to my site and check out cool pics in my blog from the shuttle program that you don't normally see.
